Kentucky greenlights Sportradar for sports betting as legalisation nears

Sportradar Solutions, the US-based betting arm of Sportradar, has received the green light to kick off operations in Kentucky, just in time for the state’s eagerly anticipated sports betting launch later this month.

Sportradar is expanding US reach

The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC) has granted Sportradar Solutions a temporary sports wagering licence, allowing them to set up shop within the Bluegrass State.

This development brings Sportradar’s tally of licences for US regions to an impressive 47, covering various states, territories, tribal lands, and even Canadian markets.

Kentucky, relatively late to the sports betting game, officially announced its decision to legalise sports betting on July 10th, making it one of the newest additions to the growing list of states embracing this form of entertainment.

The retail sports betting experience is all set to roll out on September 7th, promising an exciting new dimension to the state’s gaming scene. However, those looking to place their bets online will have to wait a few more weeks until September 28th for the digital action to begin.

Ahead of this grand launch, a number of operators have eagerly partnered with pre-licensed racetracks to offer their services to eager punters. Names like bet365 and BetMGM have joined forces with Sandy’s Racing and Gaming, while DraftKings Sportsbook has found a home at Cumberland Run, and FanDuel has teamed up with Turfway Park Racing & Gaming, all gearing up to deliver a memorable sports betting experience to the people of Kentucky.

On the first round of temporary sports wagering licence approvals, Governor Andy Beshear said: “Thank you to the KHRC commissioners for their dedication to getting this done right and getting it done in time for the opening of the NFL season.

Jonathan Rabinowitz, KHRC Chairman, said: “We are excited to open sports wagering on our target date as we continue working through this careful process dedicated to wagering integrity and protecting bettors in the state of Kentucky.”

Gearing up for exciting launch

The much-anticipated online sports betting extravaganza is all set to kick off in Kentucky on September 28th, and the state is preparing to welcome a stellar cast of nine licensed operators to the digital arena.

These nine operators, namely Bet365, BetMGM, Caesars, Circa, DraftKings, Fanatics, FanDuel, Penn Sports Interactive, and the service provider Kambi, are gearing up to offer Kentucky residents an exciting sports betting experience.

Sportradar, which secured its licence during the second wave of authorizations, is ready to contribute its sports data expertise to sports betting and gaming agencies throughout the state of Kentucky.

The excitement is already palpable as several sportsbooks have opened their doors for early customer access, with the likes of Caesars Sportsbook and BetMGM leading the way in providing a sneak peek into the future of online sports betting in the Bluegrass State.
