Cambodia’s NagaWorld to reopen on July 8

Naga Corp Ltd. announced that it is reopening NagaWorld Casino’s VIP and electronic gaming machines in Cambodia on 8 July

The company stated that they have received a go signal to resume operations from the Ministry of Heath in Cambodia after inspection of the gaming venue in capital Phnom Penh last 4 July.?

In an announcement posted?on social media, the government spokesperson said that Prime Minister Hun Sen has allowed opening of csinos in Cambodia only after obtaining a permit from the Ministry of Health.??

Director-general?Mey?Vann of the General Department of Financial Industry, regulator of all casinos in the kingdom, said that?NagaWorld?is the first casino operator to request for the resumption of operation, and that no other casinos have?submitted a request letter since?the other casinos have?not?prepared?yet?to reopen. He also added that casinos in the Thai and Vietnamese borders are still closed.??

Some restrictions will be introduced following the reopening on 8 July, including mandatory wearing of face masks and checking of temperature for guests and employees prior to entering the property.?

To ensure social distancing measures are followed, gaming machine operations will also be limited to 50 percent, with alternate machines to be turned off. Meanwhile, table games will operate only at 43 percent of its capacity, with only three players to be accommodated for each gaming table.??

Dining outlets will operate at 50 percent seating capacity, with tables?1.5 meters apart. Buffet services have been suspended temporarily.??

There are also 5 “quarantine rooms” the company has set up as prevention measures for any guests with health issues. Further, any Covid-19 case shall be reported to the Ministry of Health immediately.??

At present, there are 141 Covid-19 cases in the kingdom with 131 recoveries and 0 death rate, making it one of the first countries in South East Asia to effectively respond to the initial cases of the virus as early as January.??
