Betsson goes Greek

Malta-based Betsson has been granted a seven-year license for online gaming and betting in Greece

Betsson has been granted an entry into the Greek gambling market by the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC) and will be launching its flagship brand in the next coming weeks, the company announced.

In a statement, the Swedish company said that Betsson.gr will offer sports betting, casino, live casino, and virtual sports.

Betsson received two of the new HGC licenses to operate in Greece; one license for games of chance (casino, slots) and another one for betting (sportsbook), both of which are valid for an initial period of seven years.

Pontus Lindwall, President and CEO of Betsson AB said:

Pontus Lindwall, President and CEO of Betsson ABWe are really pleased to receive these licenses and to welcome Greece as Betsson’s 18th locally regulated market. As in other markets, our vision for Greece is to offer the best customer experience possible and we have partnered with some great gaming suppliers and payment providers to augment our offering. The Greek gaming market has experienced significant growth over the past years, and we see a lot of potential.

Betsson Greece will be launched with a product offering specifically developed with the Greek players in mind, such as the Betsson 500k where players have to pick the correct outcome on twenty different events with the chance of winning big; and Betsson+ that enables players to create their own bet on the football player they choose in all big events this summer. Furthermore, Betsson will offer a Greek language dedicated customer support service.

Betsson is considered as one of the largest players in the igaming industry offering games in 18 different jurisdictions. It has almost 2000 employees on its books working from 11 different locations.
