Nearly €270 million boutique casino set to rise in Boracay by 2025???

Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI) is gearing up for the launch of a $300 million (€269.7 million) boutique-style casino resort in Boracay, a popular white beach destination in the central Philippines. ??

According to local reports, the boutique casino is set to be named Boracay World Resorts and the project aims to open its doors by late 2025 or early 2026. The development is designed to align with the island’s natural beauty, featuring a sustainable and smaller-scale structure compared to other large-scale casinos. The project will be part of AGI’s 150-hectare Boracay Newcoast township, which already houses a golf course and numerous luxury accommodations.

Sustainable design for a global destination

AGI President Kevin Andrew Tan emphasised that Boracay World Resorts would bring a unique blend of nature and modern luxury, appealing to global tourists. The resort’s focus will be on sustainability, ensuring that it complements the island’s size and environment. Tan said the company has been conscious of avoiding large constructions on the island, aiming for a development that respects Boracay’s ecological balance while enhancing its appeal as a premier tourist destination. The casino will be integrated into Boracay Newcoast, which already boasts a golf course and upscale hotels.

Another casino for Cebu on the horizon

In addition to the Boracay project, AGI recently announced plans for another major investment – Mactan World Resorts in Cebu. The $400 million (€359.6 million) integrated resort will be in the 30-hectare Mactan Newtown township, just 20 minutes from Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Slated for completion by 2026, this development will feature a hotel, resort, and casino complex, with the potential to create over 5,000 jobs for the local community.??

Tourism boost and plans

AGI’s investments come as the Philippines experiences a resurgence in tourism. The government has set an ambitious target of 7.7 million foreign visitors for 2024, with 3.7 million tourists as of August. To support this growth, AGI is expanding its hotel portfolio, aiming to reach 12,000 room keys by 2028, with a significant portion dedicated to tourism-focused developments. ?
